Every family has one:  the person who is a big fan of something no one else in the family can relate to.  While you and the rest of your family are huge baseball fans, he’s a big chess nerd.  Or while your family likes to catch every college basketball game the local university plays, this guy’s absorbed watching late-season NFL games.  If the person like this in your family is in fact a huge boxing fan, but neither you nor anyone else has the slightest idea what boxing fans enjoy, it can be troublesome to shop for them during their birthdays and the holidays.  Instead of just playing guessing games, consider these boxing fan gift suggestions below.

For those who are more imaginative, pretending to be the latest world boxing champ may be the fantasy of all fantasies.  After all, being the heavyweight champion of the world is no small feat to accomplish.  Let the boxing fan in your life express his champion-like aspirations by giving him gear that would make a boxing pro proud.  A large, monogrammed robe is a good place to start, but don’t stop there.  Pair that monogrammed robe with a boxing belt, some gloves, and if the boxing fan really sees himself as a winner, a miniature trophy to boot.  That way, the next time you and your family are putting those giant foam hands on to catch the latest baseball or basketball game, he can strut out in his robe like a true champion.

For those who are more low-key in their fandom, there is plenty of other merchandise out there that’s less showy.  Boxing videogames are a great gift, especially in recent years.  The advent of motion control technology in videogames has been a mixed bag, but sports such as boxing (along with baseball, bowling, tennis, and a handful of others) have best been able to take advantage of these motion controls to create a more riveting, engaging play experience.  DVDs of the fan’s favorite matches couldn’t hurt either, and you certainly won’t see him sour if you grab him tickets to a big upcoming fight.

Just don’t send him another DVD of ‘Rocky.’  He’s probably seen every major boxing movie ever made, and probably has received more copies as gifts than you could imagine.  Spare him another copy and get him something unique that shows that you put a lot of thought into his boxing interest before picking out his present.  It will pay off in the end!
